Look beyond the asking price
Compare the price of the home with the costs of buying it, keeping it and enjoying it. A simple breakdown makes the gaps easier to see.
Keep the original currency in view
Fairawayhomes shows original asking prices when supplied. USD estimates help filter resale listings, but they are not an exchange-rate quote. Confirm the original amount, which currency a deposit must be paid in and how you would handle a change in exchange rates.
Build a purchase-cost list
Ask the professionals handling your purchase for a breakdown of the taxes, registration costs, legal fees and other charges that apply to your particular transaction. Include any finance-arrangement costs, furnishings or work needed before you move in. These vary by property and location.
Compare recurring costs separately
Request recent or projected figures for association fees, utilities, insurance, maintenance and local property charges. A new development’s estimate may differ from an established home’s actual bills. Record which figures are confirmed and which remain estimates.
Add the golf you expect to play
Include membership or green fees in your own budget. Do not assume a course within the resort is included in your ownership costs. Ask about household and guest arrangements as well as your own access.
Try a repayment illustration
The calculator below shows how a repayment loan changes with the deposit, interest rate and term you enter. It does not assess mortgage eligibility or include purchase taxes. Replace the initial assumptions with figures relevant to your search.
Adjust the assumptions to estimate a repayment loan. The starting figures are illustrative, not a mortgage offer.
Enter a price and valid assumptions to calculate.
A fixed-rate repayment illustration. Taxes, purchase fees, insurance, golf membership and maintenance are excluded unless entered in “Other monthly costs”. Rates, eligibility and local charges must be confirmed separately.
