A property’s distance to golf is only the beginning. These are the details to establish before you arrange a viewing.
Start with the exact location
Ask for the property’s address and its position within the development. A short straight-line distance can still mean a longer trip to the clubhouse, particularly where the course has limited entrances. Check the route you would actually use.
Ask what ownership includes
Get a written explanation of any membership or playing rights offered with the property. Ask whether they belong to the owner, the household or the home itself; whether guests are included; and what happens if the property is sold or rented out. A listing that says “golf community” does not answer those questions.
Separate the fees
Ask the club about joining fees, annual subscriptions, green fees and other charges. Check whether membership is required, optional or subject to an application, and whether the quoted property price includes any of it. Keep these costs separate from residents’ association and resort fees.
Understand when you can play
A nearby club may operate seasonal restrictions, booking windows or different rules for members and visitors. Ask how tee times are allocated and whether the courses, practice facilities and clubhouse follow the same access rules.
Visit at the times you would use the home
Look at the setting during a normal playing day. Consider course maintenance, paths, shared facilities and the home’s relationship to the playing areas. The qualities you value on a holiday may be different from those you need throughout the year.
Keep the answers with your shortlist
Save the property and keep the advertiser’s written answers. Before you make a commitment, confirm the membership terms with the club itself and the property terms with the professional handling your purchase.
